Bridging Legacy Computing to Contemporary Image and Data Systems
Financial institutions have a significant investment in legacy systems that are used to support day-to-day operations. In addition to the investment in these systems, there is a considerable expenditure in the training of users, security systems, operating procedures and infrastructure. Given the scale of this investment, it’s often difficult or impossible to justify moving to new technology. This creates a conundrum: how to take true advantage of new technologies to reduce cost and improve productivity.
Many of the current legacy applications, because of their ‘silo’ structure, require users to access multiple systems to complete required tasks. This reduces productivity and increases the chances of errors.
ACCORD® iLink provides the means to integrate new technology with existing legacy systems to reduce cost and vastly improve productivity.
Image Enabling 3270 & 5251 Workstations
ACCORD® iLink uses a modular and scalable infrastructure that can be deployed to “image enable” existing legacy applications that use 3270 or 5251 terminal access.
ACCORD® iLink uses a browser-based interface to present information to users in the familiar 3270 or 5251 format. In addition, it provides transparent access to data available from other systems, such as image repositories, without having to reenter the key data into another application.
A browser-based interface eliminates the need to install specific software at the point of use and provides convenient, fast, and location independent access to the relevant information.
The ACCORD® iLink Solution provides hyperlinks to fields on existing 3270/5251 screens. The hyperlinks can be directed to retrieve check images from an array of check image archives. Additionally, non-image data can be retrieved from corporate databases to supplement the application data on the screen.
Connection To Your Systems
Seamless, reliable architecture
The infrastructure used by the ACCORD® iLink Solution can be used within the financial institution to reduce cost and improve productivity associated with legacy applications in departments such as financial centers, research and adjustment, customer service, lockbox and treasury.
These applications include the core processing systems, check and lockbox processing systems, Account Reconciliation systems, ACH processing systems, image archives, etc. Many of these applications operate on legacy systems and have evolved over a long period of time. As a result, 3270 and 5251 terminals are still used to process transactions.
ACCORD® iLink supports specially designed “connectors” to interface to the commonly used legacy, COLD, e-mail, check and non-check image archives installed within a financial institution.
Product Overview
- No retraining is required since the user continues to use the familiar 3270 or 5251 interface.
- Existing security management procedures can remain unaltered.
- Transparent access to image data in conjunction with legacy systems is provided.
- The requirement to re-enter data is eliminated. This speeds up processing and reduces errors.
- No components are installed on the user PC.
- Leveraging of the investment in existing systems, security procedures, user training and infrastructure is supported.
- Facility to bridge the silos of applications within the bank is established.
- Operates on a standard server platform.
